U.S. Representative Richard Hanna today announced that Remington Arms has been awarded a nearly $80 million contract to produce more than 5,000 sniper rifles for the U.S. military. The work will be done in Ilion by Mohawk Valley employees.

(The actual contract is $79.7 million and calls for 5,150 rifles and 4.4 millions rounds of ammo, although it does not state which or all three of the calibers possible.)

Now meet the $16,000 rifle that will take 1,200 people a decade to make just 5,000 of…

The Remington Modular Sniper Rifle.

Already in prototype use by the US Army as the XM-2010 ESR.

There will also likely be a contract to upgrade all 2,500 of the US Army’s existing M-24 sniper rifles to the MSR standard.

It seems kind of obvious that 7,000+ sniper rifles is a bit more then SOCOM itself needs or could use, so it should be safe to assume that SOCOM is not the only potential Department of Defense customer.

Civilian versions of the M-24 sniper rifle are available for around $2,500 to $3,000 each. For five times the cost I would expect heat seeking radar guided proximity rounds that fly around multiple corners…but since I’m still waiting on my flying car…

…and I don’t see why Remington would need to stay in New York to produce those rifles.

We patiently kept quiet about that event for quite some time, waiting, hoping, for a break in the investigation. We also, in our spare time, worked very hard on finding out who would have the means, motive, and opportunity to perform such a heinous act against us. We had a very short list of very obvious suspects, including those who had shown some advance knowledge of the event, those who had already threatened and attacked both of us in the very recent past, and those who seemed to know of the event shortly afterwards even though we kept quiet about it.

These are the (redacted) transcripts that Law Enforcement (LE) will allow us to post at this time. LE also retains the first two pages the transcript at this time. We also have the audio recordings of the police radio calls, and of course, the local police case number, both of which LE have asked us to not post publicly (yet).

As the days, then weeks, then months passed, we were able to strike most of the lesser suspects off of the list. Rather then publish our findings regarding this case on small public blogs like this one and/or social media, as so many ignorant people seem to think is the norm, we quietly hand over everything that we find on this case to (real) Law Enforcement investigators.

Unlike the majority of the known SWATting events, the SWATting of Kelly Hallissey was not politically motivated, or a celebrity prank. The SWATting of Kelly Hallissey was personal and it was attempted murder. The SWATters told police that there were armed men and no family adults in the house, guaranteeing that any adult found by police would have police guns pointed at them. The SWATters knew that Kelly’s house had smoked glass windows on the front door, guaranteeing that immediate identification by police would be difficult until the door was actually open.

Because we live in a civilized society I will continue to patiently wait for the long, slow arm of Justice to take it’s course. I will wait years, even decades, if necessary, to see Justice served. But I will see it served and I will never forget or forgive.

In the meantime, I see that someone using the handle “Incognito” has posted on Mike Stack’s moderated CryingWolfBlog that Kelly Hallissey and her daughters somehow “needed” to be SWATted. Usage of the word “needed” is actually rather telling, from a Law Enforcement perspective…

It isn’t illegal to say such things. But it is a sign of severe moral failings. It may also be grounds for law enforcement interest. So I suggest and highly recommend to Mike Stack, who approved that post on his own blog, that he not lose the IP and e-mail addresses of the person who posted that comment, and that he quietly forward that information to the relevant authorities post haste.

Multiple and independent sources have stated that the girl whose nudes William Welna posted on Encyclopedia Dramatica (ED) was under 18 when those photos were taken. Since Welna also sent those photos to the girls high school and to her parents employees it would seem glaringly obvious that she was both underage at the time, and somebody’s daughter (nice attempt by Emick at dehumanizing the victim while shifting the blame). GirlFriday did not upload those photos, William Welna, who had editing privileges on ED at the time, did. And that’s not all that he did to that girl.

Now then, since Emick and Welna persist in lying about Emick’s 17 pages of libeling Kelly that she posted on ScribD…(which we demolished here)

Contrary to Emick and Welna’s claims, it was not a DMCA copyright violation that got that post removed from ScribD, and Emick’s entire ScribD account temporarily closed. In fact, it’s a textbook open and shut case of slander, libel, and defamation. Something that is very clearly covered by ScribD’s own Terms of Service (section 7.4.2). Given the legal ramifications, we’re quite happy to have Emick claim copyright on that piece and have never disputed its ownership. How do I know why and how that libel post of Emick’s was taken down? I filed the initial complaint(s), I have the e-mails. Emick’s ScribD account was temporarily closed when she attempted to re-post the exact same PDF, not once, but twice on ScribD, which generated two more complaint e-mails from me.

Some readers may be aware of Emick (and ZAPEM’S) vehement complaints about Neal Rauhauser posting a picture of what he claimed was ZAPEM’S house. Some might also be aware of Emick’s strident complaints when UGnazi hacked rapper Souljaboy’s Twitter account, posting that he would be at a party at Emick’s house, leading multiple strangers to drive by and take photos of her house. Yet Jennifer Emick defended William Welna when he did the very same thing (posting pictures of innocent peoples houses), and ZAPEM was no where to be found then.

I suppose we could ask the real reason why Jennifer Emick was in touch with Neal Rauhauser months before Rauhauser reached out to Kelly Hallissey, and then we could ask why she was so very upset at Rauhauser when she discovered that not only was he in touch with Kelly Hallissey, but that he also refused to break that contact as Emick had apparently demanded, and then threatened him into doing.

And then we could ask what was the response of Emick, Welna, and ZAPEM when they found out that Kelly Hallissey had been SWATted? Aside from showing remarkable precognition about the event, they (Emick and Welna) claimed we were lying about it.

Does that mean that Kelly’s local Police Department was also lying? Well, “Incognito” on Mike Stack’s blog certainly seems to think so…(hey, is that another one of them impersonation things?)

Yes, Kelly was SWATted. We have the case number, the transcript, and the dispatch audio (Patterico can confirm the existence of those items), and we know that Kelly’s local PD is not in the habit of fabricating calls. We also know that it’s extremely rare and very unlikely that any US law enforcement is going to release any information about an ongoing investigation to just anybody that calls, but feel free to try, I’m sure they’d love to log a few more Emick related calls. R – Ironically, Jennifer Emick had already been stalking both Tom Ryan and The Jester since at least 2010. Despite Emick’s many claims, Tom Ryan is NOT The Jester. I’ll address that HBGary acquaintance further down, among other things.

Emick – “At one point, Neal claimed to have access to a “natsec editor” used by members of Congress. When I questioned him on the legality of this claim, he became silent. I shared this text with a blogger I had become acquainted with, who sensationalized it, and exposed my identity to Kelly Hallissey, another Anonymous-affiliated hacker who began attacking me in May.”

R – Kelly Hallissey is neither Anonymous-affiliated nor a hacker. Kelly already knew of and about Emick, not in the least because of a mass doxing of people known to have been on The Jester 2600 IRC channel in April 2012, where Kelly, Tom Ryan, and Emick herself were all listed in that personal document drop, among many others. Kelly was also aware of who Emick was and is, after Emick posted LulzSec hacker Sabu’s home address in public, thereby ruining an ongoing FBI investigation. The unnamed “mystery” other blogger who was mentioned above is Brooks Bayne. Emick herself revealed that she was Bayne’s mystery source known as “Cream” when she posted a screen shot of herself as Cream, attacking Tom Ryan, in her frantic and on-going two year obsession with The Jester.

Emick – “It turns out that Hallissey and Rauhauser were already quite well acquainted.”

R – Not at all. I had to tell Kelly who and what Neal was in June of 2012. On May 16th, 2012 Kelly and I asked Emick in a phone call for information regarding Welna’s acquaintance with the hacker known as Doxbin. Instead of answering us, on May 23rd, Emick and her partner William Welna attacked Kelly and I, using all of the exact same tactics that Anonymous have made infamous. The exact same tactics that Emick so bitterly complains about being used on her.

Emick – “Neal stayed silent for the next two months, but was apparently quite active behind the scenes, assisting Hallissey with an extremely loud and confrontational harassment campaign against me and anyone who publicly stood up for me. The harassment included vile attacks on my children, threats of rape, threats to post my children’s pictures and location on pedophile websites, and violent physical threats.”

R – Neal Rauhauser, like UGNazi, does his own thing. He does not work with or for Kelly Hallissey, myself, The Jester or Tom Ryan, and he never has. A careful reading of the time lines involved reveals that Emick was in fact, in contact with Neal Rauhauser at least two months prior to Neal Rauhauser’s reaching out to Kelly. I’ll repeat that, Emick, (an ex-Anonymous member), was in touch with Rauhauser, (a reputed Anonymous member), at least two full months before Kelly, (never an Anonymous member), even knew who Rauhauser was.

Emick – “Credit accounts were applied for using my information. I placed a hold on my credit, which was removed by another person impersonating me. Kelly routinely passed my address to members of anonymous, often with breezy promises to provide “gas money.”

R – Assuming Emick’s credit accounts were compromised in any way, that would be a Law Enforcement issue and hardly the fodder for blog posts. Kelly did no such thing regarding Emick’s credit accounts or home address.

Emick – “I continued to receive regular harassing phone calls, my personal online accounts and business accounts were repeatedly attacked, and I received continual ddos attacks on my home internet connection. In early October, an individual once again gained access to my personal emails. (It turns out one’s SSN is a magic key – once known by hackers, it is next to impossible to keep them out) They also invaded my Amazon, Ebay and Skype accounts. In every case, the hackers looked for evidence of a relationship with HBGary, and in one case, attempted to communicate with Aaron Barr while impersonating me. Both Hallissey and Neal made announcements of the hacks before I was even aware of them.”

R – None of those harassing calls or hacks came from or were inspired by Kelly Hallissey in any way. None of those attacks on Emick’s personal accounts came from or were inspired by Kelly Hallissey in any way. No DDoS attacks on Emick’s home Internet came from or were inspired by Kelly Hallissey in any way. Jennifer Emick, in an on line trolling career that spans almost a decade, has created a lot of enemies.

Emick – “My two harassers soon began openly associating and socializing on Twitter, IRC chat and video chatting networks, and even created an IRC channel, #treehouse, openly dedicating to harassing, discrediting, and plying me with false information with the stated hope of poisoning my efforts at intelligence gathering. (Which assumes I blindly pass on any dumb claim or rumor I read?) There was also quite a bit of discussion aimed at identifying my friends and acquaintances.

R – Both Neal Rauhauser and Kelly Hallissey were repeatedly attacked in public by Jennifer Emick, it would stand to reason that those two, and the many other people who were wrongly or rightly attacked by Emick and Welna over the last two years, would come together and compare notes at some point or another. This does not mean that they are “working together.” Emick says, “intelligence gathering” which serves as additional evidence that she is operating as an unlicensed investigative firm in the State of Michigan. Judging from the massive inaccuracies found in the BackTrace Security release called Namshub, the multiple failures to identify The Jester, and the numerous outright lies that Emick has told about myself and Kelly, it seems very clear that she is passing along a number of dumb claims and rumors.

Emick – “In September, Neal and Kelly approached Barrett Brown, self identified Anonymous spokesperson and close friend of Gregg Housh, with a document they claimed was obtained in the attack on my emails, and which was critical of Brown, Kimberlin, and Rauhauser. This appeared to be quite obviously written by Breitbart researcher Mandy Nagy, with a number of details I have no personal knowledge of.”

R – Kelly has never “approached” Barrett Brown, with any documents, or in a friendly manner. It should be pointed out at this stage that Emick’s current partner, William Welna worked with Gregg Housh, among others, in Anonymous. Where and when Neal Rauhauser obtained Mandy Nagy’s document can only be answered by Neal Rauhauser himself. That document by Mandy Nagy was not part of the stolen Emick files that UGNazi dumped on Pastebin, nor was it to be found in any of Welna’s data, which is currently in the hands of the FBI.

Emick – “They also gave Brown copies of texts from early 2011, claiming that some brief exchanges were evidence I was part of yet another conspiracy with HBGary to “frame” members of Anonymous for unspecified crimes, and to harass Barrett at their behest – a calculated ploy the narcissistic Barrett couldn’t resist.”

R – No, Kelly did not give Barrett Brown any copies of texts, or any other data, ever. Emick’s former partner in BackTrace Security confirms that they had a contract with HBGary, but were never actually paid.

Although he correctly concluded the document was not authored by me, he credulously accepted the rest of the conspiracy, and made a series of videos threatening the FBI and myself. He was shortly after arrested, and is awaiting trial on charges of threatening a Federal agent.”

R – Brown had also been subjected to a non-stop pattern of harassment by Emick, even after his initial raids by Law Enforcement, perhaps that might be why he lost his mind? After all, if the FBI couldn’t or wouldn’t protect their star witness against LulzSec, Sabu, from Emick’s constant harassment, they certainly were not about to protect Brown, who also threatened one of their own.

Emick – “This has not deterred Kelly or Neal, who continue to harass me and my family, even going so far as to try and obtain copies of a PPO request I filed against them in early October (if they are patient, they will receive their own copies at my expense.) Both continually protest innocence, while passing around information from my personal accounts and bragging about the attacks.”

R – If one (Emick) announces in public that she is bent on obtaining a PPO against the very same people that she stalked and harassed, doesn’t it stand to reason that those people would have a right to know if a PPO has been filed against them? In fact, super-secret (to the people they are aimed at) PPO’s would seem rather counter-productive, wouldn’t they? It would be rather difficult to abide by the or any terms of any such order, if one doesn’t know it exists. As it stands, thanks to Emick’s public warning of her PPO actions, both Kelly Hallissey and Tom Ryan were able to determine, from the State of Michigan, that Emick had indeed filed for PPO’s against them both, and that those PPO’s had already been denied by the court. Stalking someone for six months (Kelly) or almost two years (Tom Ryan), and then demanding a PPO against those very people is frowned upon in most courtroom establishments.

Emick – “The same week my email and Skype accounts were breached, Kelly bragged in an IRC chat about having a pizza sent to my home. The delivery arrived at 2am, and the pizza was inscribed “404.” The driver was instructed to read [redacted threatening message] This unexpected late night “prank” was quite disturbing, as Kelly had openly solicited others in the past to harass me and others while dressed as pizza delivery drivers. (One of these was asked bluntly whether he possessed a firearm)”

R – Kelly did not send pizza to Emick’s home, or brag about it. That was apparently UGNazi, who seem rightfully confused, and just a bit pissed off, that even when they openly claim credit, Emick continues to blame the wrong people. Kelly asked quite sarcastically the next morning in an IRC how she could have done all that while she was asleep. Emick immediately took that out of context as an admission. Kelly has not solicited anybody to harass anybody else any time in the last two years. Kelly has asked for information, from a great number of people, including asking Emick by phone last May 2012, for information about William Welna related to his role in posting the documents mentioned in the very first answer above. Instead of answering the question Emick lied to Welna and then the two of them attacked Kelly and I – on May 23rd. They have not stopped their attacks, in spite of having their credibility trashed at every turn as their complete and total lack of veracity is repeatedly exposed, and in spite of Welna’s hard drives being turned over to the FBI.

Emick – “This incident was followed by almost a dozen deliveries of food to my house. Drivers were repeatedly instructed not to knock before entering. Running commentary on events was provided by both Kelly and Neal, although UGNazi stepped in to take credit. Neal posted this charming video on his blog.”

R – Again, Kelly Hallissey had zero to do with any of that.

Emick – “This was followed two days later by a visit from my local police department, who received a phone call from Neal- who had feigned concern for my mental health. Neal had previously openly bragged before the incident on his blog about my so-called “Vacation notice.” This is a tactic he has mentioned frequently in the past, and he brags about having pulled this stunt on numerous occasions.”

R – Again, Kelly Hallissey had zero to do with any of that prior to or during the fact.

R – That has nothing to do with anybody but Neal Rauhauser and the person or persons that he directed it towards. It certainly has nothing to do with Kelly Hallissey, myself, Tom Ryan, The Jester, or most of the dozens of other people that Emick and Welna have stalked and harassed over the last two years.

Emick – “On Tuesday, October 11, the account of a very well known Rapper, Souljaboy, was hacked by UGNazi. My address was broadcast several times to over five million of his followers, inviting them to a party at my residence. Both Kelly and Neal were aware of this before I was, as both seemed to believe it was quite humorous. I received dozens of visitors to my house over the course of three hours, all people looking to meet a celebrity. Photos of my house, with the address visible, were posted all over Twitter. Neal continually made light of the situation, and despite the fact that my Twitter account is private, obtained and posted my comments about the incident on his blog, as well as photos of my house.”

R – Kelly, (and I’m assuming here) Neal both found about that UGNazi hack and prank from one of Emick’s own friends (@_Dantalion) in the ReaperSec IRC, who gleefully re-tweeted it on Twitter for the entire day, while trading tweets and IRC chat with the member of UGNazi who was claiming it the whole time.

Emick – “If Neal thinks his intimidation and discount-Moriarty tactics will mute his victims, so he can obsess and create conspiracies in peace.”

R – It would seem that Emick finally lost her train of thought here, but I’ll attempt to translate…I seriously doubt that any body can lay proper claim to knowing what or how Neal Rauhauser thinks.

R – If Jennifer Emick has knowledge of a crime, any crime, including those perpetrated by William Welna, then it is her duty to quietly inform Law Enforcement, and then shut her fucking mouth and let Law Enforcement do its job. Because she is NOT law enforcement, judge, jury, or executioner, nor is she even a licensed private investigator in her own state. She is an amateur, who is crashing through multiple Law Enforcement investigations, dropping the names of multiple Federal Confidential Informants in public, convincing clueless law enforcement officers, and right-wing bloggers who do not do their due diligence that she has something useful to offer. If she does not find another hobby soon, she is going to get somebody hurt, or killed. The US Army wants to shut it down for three years, from 2013 to 2016, in order to save about a billion dollars. DoD’s claim seems to be that they won’t be ready for a new third-generation Main Battle Tank until sometime after 2016.

China is not waiting. They expect delivery in 2014.

Russia is not waiting. They begin full production in 2013.

The plant will stay open, it has other customers, for other products (including the Stryker light APC and the Israeli Merkava Mk4). As the older M-1 Abrams wear out, and they do so on a regular basis, they will have to be replaced, or repaired and upgraded, so there will remain a small market for Abrams replacement and upgrade parts for some time to come, both foreign and domestic.

None of that is the real issue.

Users of the newest Russian and Chinese tanks will have had a three to six year head start in working out the bugs in their vehicles, time to develop new tactics for the new equipment, time to adjust to being able to stand and fight with, or outrun and outgun older M-1A2 and M-1A3′s.

No matter how well fortified any defenses are, the advantage (in modern combat) always lies with the attackers. If any commander is to be removed, it should be the commander-in-chief who ordered the defensive posture in Afghanistan, and who also announced the surrender date at West Point. The very same C-in-C who thought that the death of UBL would mean the end of a world wide war…

This isn’t going to get any better, or any easier. The draw down of US and allied forces from Afghanistan continues unabated.

There is zero chance that the ANA/ANP will be able to stand on their own without those US and allied forces. But I’ve been saying that since 2006…

There remain two USN carrier battle groups in the North Arabian Sea but heightened tensions with Iran will likely absorb their attention, sooner, rather then later. This will reduce still further the available air support for Coalition ground forces in Afghanistan.

Maybe a decade plus long world wide war really is a very bad time to reduce the military budget?
