I would like to say I am surprised. But I have encountered similar things among academics, tenured ones at that.
The usual diatribe that the holocaust wasn’t that bad. Is exaggerated. That many people from around the world have had much worse. [To be fair the vast majority of world civilizations have been wiped out, many through genocide; but that doesn't make the Nazi's killing 12 million people . . . 6 million of which were Jews . . . any less abhorrent.]
Render this is an old discussion that we have had. I think the most anti Jewish people in the world [outside of Pakistan] live in Europe. It is especially pronounced in universities.
This is all the more reason potential friends need to be aggressively courted.
Notice how PM Bibi is reaching out to the Turks and treating them respectfully with some success. Much more of this sort of stuff is needed. Many muslims are more likely to be partners than Europeans. They in turn need to be able to demonstrate that their positive engagement with Israel benefits Palestinians. [Which means among other things publicly offering free trade/free investment/free business collaboration/free work permit agreements with Gaza and the West Bank.]
